HTC Desire V makes its European debut with dual-SIM capabilities, keeps your affairs in order

Whether you travel a lot, have to deal with spotty coverage or straight up lead a double life, HTC has a new dual-SIM smartphone for you with the Desire V. The handset is a first of its kind from the company for its European audience, which is said to debut first in Ukraine at a cost of 3,800 ??? (approx. $470). The Desire V is an Android 4.0 smartphone with Sense 4 and is based on the Qualcomm MSM7227A SoC. Its spec sheet is quite decent, which includes a 1GHz CPU, a 4-inch WVGA display and a 5-megapixel camera. You'll also find 512MB of RAM, and while the phone offers just 4GB of internal storage, it also includes a microSD card slot and 25GB of storage through Dropbox. Only one SIM will support data connections, however, as the latter is limited to GSM/GPRS connections -- still fine for voice, but keep that in mind. You'll see the Desire V hit the streets next month, which'll give you enough time to get your affairs in order (or disorder, as the case may be).

They say less is more, but Kanye West could've used a couple more Lamborghinis in his "Mercy" video, because there's no way all those G.O.O.D. MCs will fit in the clip's lone Murciélago.

On Wednesday (June 6), G.O.O.D. Music dropped the video for "Mercy," the first single off of their collective Cruel Summer LP. The all-star rap crew gather in a black-and-white, art deco-inspired parking lot that houses one motorcycle, one two-door sports coupé and a whole lot of rhymes.

After a camera pan introduces us to the song's stars, a masked Yeezy marches across the widescreen, waving his hands and chanting, "Lamborghini mercy your chick is so thirsty" before giving way to Big Sean's introductory verse.

There may have been a shortage of cars, but no shortage of MCs. A "Matrix"-like visual effect is employed to double-up and sometimes triple-up each rapper so he appears more than once in a single shot. As Big Sean charismatically acts out his verse, shaking ferociously, a second Sean dances behind him playing hypeman. The Sean doppelganger appears, disappears and then reappears playing hide and seek behind the support beams in the underground lot.

During the five-and-a-half-minute "Mercy" video, there is no intricate story line or scene change; just a good old-fashioned, stylized hip-hop stunt fest. Why? Because Kanye can, that's why. Yeezy's performance is as arrogant as ever. His facial expressions match his bars, especially when he looks into the camera deadpan, while his visual clone lyrically extorts Def Jam records. "Tell 'em gimme $50 million or I'ma quit," Yeezy #2 spits while flashing the international "Give me money" sign by rubbing his thumb, index and ring fingers together.

No question West is a star and worth every penny, but it's guest spitter 2 Chainz who steals the show on the song's closing verse. Leaning on a support-beam, waiting as cool as ever, the charismatic Tity Boi jumps off the column and begins spewing his bars. With his head wrapped in a long-flowing black scarf, Deuce moves his lanky frame to and fro, while his G.O.O.D. Music buddies parade behind him.

By the video's close, Sean, Pusha T, Kanye and 2 Chainz come together in a single frame for a group pose before they magically disappear behind a speeding Lambo. Have mercy!

ZAGREB, Croatia -- Several government ministers in Croatia will join a gay pride march set for this weekend amid threats of violence from opponents, saying it was a test of democracy for a country due to join the European Union next year.?

Last year's event, held in the Adriatic city of Split, plunged into violence as police failed to protect the marchers from angry locals who pelted them with eggs and rocks. Several people were injured and at least 30 arrested.?

Several nationalist and war veteran groups have issued warnings against this year's June 9 march in Split, calling it a "shameful provocation by sick people to which we will respond."

Split Mayor Zeljko Kerum has also said he would not take part in the march, which he said was disapproved of by most residents.?

Where to celebrate Pride Month

Nevertheless, in an unprecedented move for the Balkans, where gay rights are largely ignored and Pride marches are few and far between, the liberal center-left cabinet said it approved of the event.?

Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic called on Split residents to show tolerance and accept "standard democratic practice of Western Europe."

"The eyes of the European Union will be focused on Split on Saturday ... The gay population does not threaten anyone and we just have to accept them," Milanovic told Media Servis, a local electronic news provider.?

Troops march in San Diego's gay pride parade

Indeed, the EU delegation in the capital Zagreb said in a statement that it would be watching the march carefully.

"We are encouraged by government members' plans to take part... but at the same time we express our concern at some homophobic comments by the local (Split) authorities," the AFP quoted an EU statement as saying.?

The country is set to join the European Union in July 2013.

Similar marches have been held for a decade in the capital Zagreb under heavy police protection, but with a relatively few incidents.?

Because playing is a child's basic means of learning about the world he or she lives in, it is our responsibility as parents to expose them to playground equipment on parks and school grounds. Nevertheless, before we let them have fun out there, we should make sure that our little angel does so safely.

Although some parents find it logical to leave the kids on their own as they play on seesaws and slides to teach them of independence, we must not be complacent about their safety because they may be vulnerable to traumatic injuries if we let them be on their own at all times. So, how can we keep them safe in the said leisure facility at all times?

1. Supervise closely your child playing from a safe distance. Not only should mums, dads, and nannies monitor their playing children from a reassuring distance, they should also bring first-aid kits and food to keep their little angel nourished and safe from bruises and wounds.

2. Inspect if the outdoor play equipment are well-maintained. Before letting children play on roundabouts, inspect if the leisure equipment is properly cleaned and check for splinters or broken wood. As for the rest that are made from metals, see if there are no traces of rust.

3. See the arrangement in the playground. As much as you would want your little angel to mingle with older kids who can play with them on the seesaw, it is best if you let them play with facilities designated for their age. Typically, when younger children play on equipment that is not their size, they may be exposing themselves to potential dangers. Aside from this, see if each play equipment are amply spaced from one another so your kids will not be hurting themselves whenever they run and chase each other.

4. Remind your kids on basic playground safety rules. Of course, your kid's safety will not only rely on you--they are also responsible for themselves. So, before they head for any foundation stage playground equipment, teach them not to push other kids around as well as stay away from unruly and mischievous ones. Also, teach them to not leave their things anywhere because such clutter can cause somebody to stumble or trip.

With all these tips, you can increase your chances of keeping your beloved children safe and happy as they check out and have fun on adventure playground equipment in parks, gyms, and other leisure facilities in your locality.
